J.O. Bass spurs, gal leg, #198, pristine condition, completely original and all mountings intact. \u00a0Maker’s mark on right spur as usual “MADE BY J.O.BASS. TULIA. TEX. NO.198” \u00a0This fantastic rare pair of Texas’ most desirable maker is as shown in Bass’ own catalog (Photos 2b & 2c) from the very early period of Tulia production just after Bass moved there from Quitaque about 1902-1905 (House, et al 2003:28). \u00a0See my books listed for more information on Bass, the premier Texas maker. \u00a0This pair from the family of original purchaser, have letter of provenance. \u00a0Quitaque production went up to about serial number 160, so these are very early and rare, especially in the gal leg design with silver side mountings, rowel pin covers, two top inlaid bars and silver buttons. \u00a0The iron heel band itself is scalloped as typical in early Bass production, with typical swinging buttons, original leather straps. \u00a0This is as good as it gets with Bass, serious inquiries only, POR.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
