Boot Jack

Historical wooden pine belonged to Texas Ranger Captain June Peak, the ranger responsible for catching the Bass gang at Salt Creek where Seaborn Barnes was killed in the late 1870's.  100% authentic with papers of provenance to legendary Texas Ranger author Robert Stephens who obtained it from Peak's daughter in the 60's or 70's.  Hand made, primitive has "JP" initials burned on top side and "June Peak" burned underside, probably dates from the 'teens.  Two streets in Peak's home town of Dallas, Texas named after him, "Junius" and "Peak" Streets, Price $250

1895 edition showing all types of sporting goods equipment, especially Colt and Winchester, Marlin, H & R, S & W, Stevens, etc. guns.  Colt Single Actions beautifully illustrated were $18, Colt 1877 & 1878 DA's were $16, but most importantly has illustrations with prices of fancy grips, pearl & ivory, carved steerhead, etc. which cost as much as the gun.  Price $895 SOLD!!!

Rare poster

31" X 24" of the landmark gunfighter exhibition at the Buckhorn Saloon & Museum, San Antonio, Texas, October 2002 through July 2007, part of this exhibit  is now on display at the National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, VA.  This is the last one for sale, one of only four made, a little tattered, corners bent, creases, etc. on 1/4" black foam board backing.  Price $500


Charles Hummel & Sons gun store, photo on canvas stretcher

14 X 10 1/2", famous source of arms in Texas during the turbulent period (Ben Thompson testimony he bought cartridges there to kill Jack Harris, etc.), located at 270 West Commerce Street (70 Commerce St. in 1877), San Antonio, Texas.  Hummel was well known Colt dealer in early Texas, supplying Dragoons, Army & Navy Models, and Single Action Army pistols to many famous personalities.  (See Steinfeldt 1978:162, Hirsch 2008:83-90) Price $100

Custer County, OK, town of Thomas, about 1903.  This appears to be a photograph made to look like a painting, 14 X 18" rare, showing badge and he is really proud of his new pistol, not an "old fashioned revolver", but the newest thing, the Colt automatic Model 1902!  Price $600 rare
